District Goal 1: Tri-Yearly Writing Benchmarks that Address Research Writing 

The Shrewsbury Borough School District will create tri-yearly benchmark writing assessments for all K-8 students.  At least 80% of all students in grades K-8 will achieve one level higher on a Research Simulation Task (RST) using an appropriate grade level rubric.  At least 30% of students in grades K-8 will achieve two or more levels higher on a research simulation task (RST) using the appropriate grade level rubric.

District Goal 2: Multi-Tiered Systems of Support 

The Shrewsbury Borough School District will utilize its 2024-2025 Response to Intervention Manual and our newly developed procedures for academic, social/emotional, and health-related concerns to provide a continuum of targeted and tiered interventions to students in need and to assess our process for the 2024-2026 school years.

District Goal 3: Building a Positive School Climate for Staff and Students 

The Shrewsbury Borough School District will analyze the results from the Spring 2024 NJ School Climate Improvement (NJ SCI) Survey to develop a strategic plan that utilizes the NJ Positive Behavior Support In Schools (NJ PBSIS) framework which supports the implementation of a range of school intervention needs including conduct, behavior, and social & emotional wellness. The Shrewsbury Borough School District will utilize Positive Behavior Supports & Interventions in Schools (PBSIS) to establish clearly defined expectations that are clearly communicated in grade-banded behavior matrices based on positive P.A.W.S. behaviors and reinforced through monthly grade-level meetings with the Assistant Principal and grade level teachers.

District Goal 4:  Reduce Incidences of Harassment, Intimidation, and Bullying 

The Shrewsbury Borough School District will reduce incidents of harassment, intimidation, bullying, and other negative student interactions by educating staff, parents, and students.

Goal 1 Support administration and staff in the endeavor to implement activities to address what was learned from the climate and culture survey. 

Goal 2 Continue to support administration and staff in their endeavors in the alignment of curriculum implementation of the new ELA and Math standards. 

Goal 3 Streamline communications to the school community while focusing on increasing stakeholder awareness of information of interest and providing highlights of staff, students, and programs.

To become a member of a local Board of Education in New Jersey, you must meet the following legal requirements:

• Be able to read and write;
• Hold citizenship and one year's residency in the school district;
• Have no interest in any contract with, or claim against the Board;
• Not hold office as mayor or member of the municipal governing body; and
• Be registered to vote in the district and not be disqualified as a voter under N.J.S.A. 19:4-1

Any community member that qualifies with the above legal requirements and would like to become a member of the Shrewsbury Board of Education, should obtain a Candidacy Kit.
